12 Finalists competing to be Miss Garden Route and KleinKaroo
Tonight - Saturday 26 September, 2009, Miss Garden Route and Klein Karoo will be crowned. This event is one of the social highlights in the Garden Route. After a few months of planing and organising, 12 finalists were chosen to compete for this prestegious title.
The Face of the Garden Route and Little Karoo
The winner of Miss Garden Route title will not only walks away with amazing prizes, but will also be known as “The Face of the Garden Route and Little Karoo” and will be granted an interview in the Miss South Africa Pageant.
Previous winners like Meche Alexander, has gone on to be a semi-finalist in the Miss South Africa Pageant – Meche was also one of the top ten contestants in Model Millions that was televised on SABC.
Funds generated by Miss Garden Route and Klen Karoo donated to combat child and women abuse
Women abuse has become a social dilemma of note within the Southern Cape, which emphasizes the importance of projects such as the Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo beauty pageant. The Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo project sets out to generate much needed funds to be donated to institutions combating women abuse.
In the past, institutions such as Creative Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George) and Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn) has benefited from such donations, supporting day-to-day operations and much needed maintenance projects. Various residents of shelters for battered and abused women have also enjoyed beauty sessions, rekindling the spiritual joy often lost in violent relationships.
Dieter Voigt ex Mr. South Africa will act as mentor for abused children
The 2009 edition of Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo will attempt to not only support victims of women abuse, but also to reach out to the silent victims; children originating from abusive households. Dieter Voigt (ex Mr. South Africa and Pasella presenter) will attempt to act as mentor to these children, providing them with various opportunities to ensure a brighter future, free from violence and neglect.
