At the foothills of the majestic Outeniqua Mountains you are welcomed by George – the administrative Capital of the Garden Route.  Being the 6th oldest town in South Africa, George houses a number of gracious historical buildings that will take you back in time. The busy airport connects the area to the main centers of South Africa. George is not a coastal town as many believe it to be, but is situated only 7km from Victoria Bay. The most important agricultural crop of the area is Hops which are grown on the farms at Waboomskraal on top of the Outeniqua Mountain.  George is also a golf paradise and boasts with a number of world class golf courses. The city of George has excellent medical facilities, a wide variety of accommodation at the local guest houses, hotels and resorts. George is situated in the heart of the Garden Route, making it ideal as a base from where you can explore the area. Most of the attractions and activities are not further than 100km from George which is ideal for a day trip.
