Who will bet the Designer of the Year at the Miss Garden Route and Klein Karoo Pageant Two Mossel Bay fashion designers will be in the run for the Designer of the Year title at the Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2011 pageant at the gala evening planned for 1 October at the Pinnacle Point Beach and Golf Resort. The rest of the lineup consists of a designer from Great Brak, two from George and one from Uniondale. The six designers from the Southern Cape region will each design two outfits to dress the 12 finalists for the grand finale of the pageant. Mossel Bay Town Festival The community of Mossel bay is busy preparing for the second annual Kraak-i-Mossel Festival. The festival will be held the weekend of the 9th till 11th of September 2011. Guests to the festival can expect lots of fun activities for young and old. All the festivities will take place on the Point Caravan Park ground in Mossel Bay. Mossel Bay Town Festival will be taking place in September 2011 The festival is the initiative of Juanita Pienaar. She did some research regarding Mossel Bay and realized that the beautiful town of Mossel bay doesn’t really offer locals and tourists a festival truly Mossel Bay, such as a Mossel Bay Town Festival. According to Juanita, she sat down with colleagues to brainstorm a name for the festival; Mossel Bay Town Festival was one of these possibilities. The Kraak-i-Mossel Festival started in 2010 and had almost 2500 visitors. Last year the duration of the festival was four days, it however only lasted three days due to unforeseen weather conditions. Seal Island Trips onboard the Romonza in Mossel Bay The Romonza is a well-known tourist attraction in Mossel Bay and takes a large number of tourists around seal island each year. Here is some interesting information regarding the Romonza for those who already embarked on a trip or those who are planning a trip onboard the Romonza in Mossel Bay. Passenger Boat in Mossel Bay for Island Trips The Romonza was not initially built for what it is used for today. Wim Klapwyk built the yacht to embark on a trip around the world. It took him 7 years to complete the project after which he first only played with it in the bay of Mossel Bay. It was only while doing this that he realized that his wife got motion sickness and the trip around the world only a dream. He then just used the boat to explore the bay and went around Seal Island. Mossel Bay Harry Giddey Park The Harry Giddey Park in Marsh Street in Mossel bay is a hidden jewel, event to some locals, right in the centre of town. The Park was first laid out as Victoria Park in the grand English manner in 1887. In the 1940’s it was extensively upgraded by Harry Giddey, after whom it was renamed. The historic gates at the southern entrance were erected in 1903 to commemorate the Jubilee of the reign of Queen Victoria of Britain. White Bengal Tiger Cubs at Jukani Wildlife Predator Park in Mossel Bay Angelo and Mich, two white Bengal tiger cubs, arrived at Jukani Wildlife Predator Park in Mossel Bay during December 2008. Their arrival was the result of a request by a Wildlife breeding facility in the Free State Province to Jukani to assist them in importing four white Bengal tigers from Elmvale Zoo in Canada. Free State Province in SA does not allow the import of exotic species into the Province. Jukani is recognised by the authorities as a bona fide zoological facility and as such able to import animals. The request was agreed to by Jukani with the understanding that 2 tigers would stay at Jukani on loan and any progeny going to the facility in FS Province after the FS facility managed to acquire a permit for two of the four white Bengals to be kept in the FS. Die fees vind plaas op die Punt Karavaan Park se terreine. Mosselbaai Dorpsfees vind plaas in September 2011 Die fees was ‘n inisiatief van Juanita Pienaar, wat navorsing gedoen het en besef het Mosselbaai is ‘n dorpie wat kan doen met nog ‘n behoorlike fees. Volgens Juanita het die naam na ‘n kopkrap-sessie ontstaan, ander voorstelle was ook onder andere die Mosselbaai Dorpsfees. Verlede jaar wat ook die begin jaar van die Kraak-i-Mossel Fees was, het die fees ‘n besoekers tal van ongeveer 2500 gehad. Die fees was toe vier dae lank, maar het ongelukkig op dag drie uitgereën. Vanjaar bou die organiseerders voort om hierdie fees iets besonders te maak. Kraak-i-Mossel Fees help Minderbevoorregte Gemeenskappe Die hoof doel van die fees is egter om fondse te genereer om minderbevoorregte gemeenskappe van bystand te bied.
