The Hotel which is situated on the banks of the Breede River boasts 24 twin rooms, 17 family rooms and 4 large family rooms, each with bathroom en suite and tastefully decorated. Their wooden beams and classic “rietdak” ceilings are a feature of the entire hotel, complimented by the wonderful paintings of the owners Mother. As most of the rooms are equipped with a fold up sleeper couch, we are able to offer extra accommodation should it be required.

The village of Malagas lies on the banks of the Breede river, 35km inland from the mouth and it is approximately 230 km from Cape Town. 10 km before you reach Swellendam, take the turn off to Malagas and travel on the gravel road for 38km. Just remember that if you are coming from Heidelberg that the “Pont” closes at sunset!

The Breede River is one of the largest and most navigable rivers in South Africa. You are able to cruise for about 30 km to the river mouth and about 15 km cruising upstream. The river is also famous  for its old man-powered ferry, locally knows as the Pont. Vehicles and pedestrians are manually hauled across the river. This service operates only during the hours of daylight and closes at sunset. .

The Breede River House leisure liners of  7.80 m  are sturdy, safe, and easy to drive. The liners are equipped with all the luxuries and comforts you need to spend a relaxing holiday on the water. They have a fully fitted kitchen, a sliding door separates the front cabin from the main area, providing privacy and an undisturbed sleep to those who need to go to bed earlier. In the front cabin is a double bed, as well as a single bed. The table arrangement in the main cabin folds down to form the second double bed. Fishing in the Breede River

The outdoor cockpit area is ideal for fishing  in theBreede River or just relaxing in the sun. There is an easy access platform with a ladder at the stern for swimming.   If you wish to tan or do bird watching the roof deck is ideal.

Sleeping is anywhere they choose within the designated overnight limits of the river – simply lower the anchor and make sure it is secured.
